Dating the Birth, Ministry and, Death of Jesus Christ

Conjunction of Four Planets Seen Just Before Sunrise on August 26, 2 BC - The Birth of Jesus

When the Magi from the East arrived in Jerusalem and spoke with Herod the Great, they were shure that the Massiah had  already been born:

" - Where is the newborn King of the Jews? We saw His star at its rising..." Mt 2:2 They probably saw the conjunction on August 26, 2 BC.

For Stellarium 2BC is shown as -1. 1BC is year zero.

The Next Conjunction of These Planets Occured on November 5, 1 AD

The Magi probably gave Herod The Great this date. This may explain why Herod orders the killing of all boys in Bethlehem "who were two years old or under" Mt 2:16

In the Vatican Museum, a plaque showing the three Magi presenting gifts to Jesus, depicts Jesus as a two-years-old boy.

If this hypothesis is correct, the traditionally accepted date of Herod the Great’s death would require re-evaluation. Could it be proposed that Herod transferred authority to his sons before his death - due to his declining health?

The Census of the Roman Population Ordered by Cesear Augustus Was Held in 2 BC (Lk 2:1)

In 2 BC, the Roman Empire celebrated the 750th anniversary of the founding of Rome and the silver jubilee of Emparor Augustus. The census was conducted that differed from earlier taxation in 28 BC, 8 BC and leter one on 14 AD.

Additionally, the early Christian writer Tertullian provides two independent chronological calculations that point to 2 BC as the year of Jesus Christ's birth.

The Date of Death of Jesus Christ

The historian determined the date of the crucifiction of Jesus Christ by identifying years in which Passover fell on a Friday, the day before the Sabbath.

One possible date is April 3, AD 33. On that day, a lunar eclipse also occurred.
